Attorney Butler represents companies, municipalities and individuals in all areas of white collar criminal law.
His practice focuses on criminal tax law, internal investigations and the coordination of complex investigations, particularly in the context of politically and/or media sensitive areas.
Another focus of his practice is advising and defending auditors in professional supervisory proceedings of the Auditor Oversight Authority (APAS).
He regularly defends our clients in main court proceedings.
Before (re)joining Wessing & Partner, Philipp Butler worked for Prof. Dr. Jochen Lüdicke from 2020 to 2022 as a lawyer advising on corporate tax law with a focus on asset and corporate succession advice. Studied at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Legal clerkship at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court with a stint at the public prosecutor’s office in Wuppertal.
He is completing his doctorate at the LMU Munich on a topic of international tax law.
In 2019, he was admitted to the Düsseldorf Bar Association and joined Wessing & Partner in the same year.
